RITE OF PASSAGE

You are invited to participate in a Rite of Passage and Vision Quest with Illana Berger and Dennis Miranda. Dennis Miranda is an elder, sundancer, pipe carrier, sweatlodge leader, and drummaker. Illana Berger is a Jewish shamanic healer, spiritual counselor, meditation teacher and wisdom keeper. Together they will guide you into the arms of your ancestors and the vision for your life.
As human understanding develops and we begin to comprehend our spiritual path in an evolutionary context, we see that life is no longer about merely transcending the world but about embracing what it means to consciously co-create the future. Until very recently, Spirit, or the Creative Principle, was something that we were asking for help from. We've reached a time in our evolution when Spirit, which is the energy and intelligence that created the universe, is who we are as our Authentic Self.
This mysterious impulse to evolve that we experience at the level of consciousness is nothing less than Spirit becoming aware of herself, himself, itself, as us.In this awakening, we directly know that the future depends upon us. Traditionally the seeker would aspire to transcend ego in order to abide in the timeless ground of being. But this is not really what the world needs now. We must resist that temptation to get lost in timelessness and begin to embrace the overwhelming urgency of these times when we are being called to bridgethe gap between our capacity to intellectually appreciate the world's problems and our willingness to actually become the solution ourselves.
It is very heroic to embrace the darkest parts of ourselves without wincing - to know that both the good and the negative live inside of us simultaneously. We are not striving to become saints, and we must not be afraid to be in the darkness or our spirits, we want to be free and we want serve a future that issustainable. And because we want to be free, we no longer want to act out of unconscious, impure motives in a way that will have karmic consequences in the world.
The reason we don't want to create Karma is not so that we don't have to be reborn again, but so that we can fearlessly embrace the reason we are here at all, in this lifetime, in this body, walking this journey. This is Rite of Passage and the purpose of Vision Quest.
There is a one month preparation for the Vision Quest: We will begin with a preliminary meeting for personal guidance, setting our intentions and meeting one another and to begin the process of Rite of Passage and building our community of travelers.
Once on the land of the Quest we will have a Medicine Walk where we will be guided by the land and nature. A medicine walk is designed to discover where your power and healing resides. It empowers you to harness your spiritual allies so that a circle of the sacred surrounds you at all times. A walk in the wilderness becomes a transformative journey into the depths of your soul and a discovery of the spirits and ancestors that accompany you in this lifetime. We are each a whole person balancing our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical existence. In this walk we will interact with the whole person, which is an intricately woven element of an entire universe.
We will prepare for the Quest with the preparation of prayer ties for the journey;
The Vision Quest will take place on the sacred lands in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
